The Only True God Who Can Fill Your Heart

Are you feeling more freedom, renewed peace, and even more joy as you have turned toward God? Are you experiencing blessings in ways you never even considered? In the same way, has it become more clear about the curses—the consequences—you had been experiencing when you had given your heart to your strongholds?

God has been showing you exactly what you have been giving your heart to over the past few weeks. You may have been very surprised at how much greed was exposed in your heart—greed for time, money, sex, food, substances, attention, control, etc. The New Testament describes greed as idolatry in Colossians 3:5: Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Why is greed considered idolatry? Greed is idolatry because we are grabbing things for ourselves rather than letting God provide exactly what we need. We are crossing His boundaries and taking things that are not ours to take. We are not depending upon our Creator to provide for us.

This tactic will never work, because we are only grabbing for false idols, and as we talked about earlier, false gods will never give back to you. False gods will never take away worldly desires, and in fact, just the opposite happens…you wind up only wanting more and more. To truly break away, you must set these idols aside and turn toward God, the only True God who can fill your heart to overflowing.
