Remember to start the day by going where God is leading you in Scripture.
Never be afraid to question anything that seems contrary to God’s design. Do you feel confused by all the lose-weight-quick fads, harsh diets, or pills on the market? Remember that there is nothing wrong with debate. In fact, questioning an issue will get you deeper into God’s Word and help you find a deeper understanding. Search God’s Word for His truth before accepting the truth of whatever fad is popular at the time.
Examine man-made rules. The next time you hear a food rule, do not hesitate to question it. Compare it to God’s Word and the rules He gives us to live by. When you have faith in the way He created your body to work, you won’t be as quick to believe the man-made rules.
Share God’s awesome plan for eating. The next time you hear a close friend or family member considering a desperate measure to lose weight, such as using dangerous diet pills or undergoing risky surgery that alters God’s system of digestion, take a moment to talk with him about God’s plan for eating. Share with him about the hunger mechanism and the way God programmed the body to know when, what, and how much to eat, just as He programmed it to know when, what, and how much to breathe. Let him know there is a truthful alternative to the desperate measures.
Make a commitment to stop dieting. Stop doing anything that makes you talk about, focus on, or lust after food ever again.
