All the glory goes to God. He is so gracious. In the fall of 2002 my wife took her first Weigh Down class. For years I watched her struggle with nearly every method of weight loss possible but now I was watching the weight come off right away and it just kept coming off. That wasn’t all though. I noticed things in our home were starting to go better. I knew this was different. She was changing and for the better. I didn’t have weight to lose but as my wife began sharing what she was learning through Weigh Down, I realized this isn’t just about weight. Her weight loss was a gift from God, a blessing for being obedient.
Shortly after her first class was over, she went through it again, this time with me and our son. By applying what we were learning in class, our lives have changed enormously. God has set me free from a selfish heart, from deep anger, rage, financial disaster, a marriage that was on the verge of divorce, arrogance, and confusion. Now my life is one of peace. Peace with God first, and through that, with my wife, my son, my job, my finances, and this life that God Almighty has truly blessed me with. Through putting this teaching into practice, I now realize that I am not the god and life is not about the pursuit of the created, but a pursuit of pleasing the Creator. There have been so many times in life I prayed to God for a new beginning because I had made such a mess of things. Now, I praise God for He has answered that prayer. I now understand the meaning of “I was blind but now I see,” and it all came through the Weigh Down Workshop.

The most gracious and generous Father has set me and my family free from so much! There are not enough words in the English language to express our gratitude or our love for God Almighty, for His people, or for true church leaders guiding us and teaching us more and more about purity and righteousness. Thank you for this chance to give Him credit for what He has accomplished in five short years!
I have been set free from greed and 80 pounds of flesh upon this body, lust for more worldly things, lust and greed for wanting more from my husband than he was giving, a love of self, depression, anger, bitterness, rage, frustration, impatience, and guilt. My heart now beats to please the God I serve, my sweet husband, and to raise my dear teenage son to serve the God who created him, not himself. My once guilt ridden depressed heart is FREE to love God and my husband as God intended for me to.
My marriage, once on the verge of divorce, is now beautiful. We are so in love with one another because we now understand it is not about ourselves, but about the other person. We now strive to please God first and because of that He has given us a beautiful loving relationship that is founded on the rock of Jesus Christ. We now long to serve one another’s needs, instead of selfish wants. We wake up with smiles upon our faces, and love spending time together now. We are often confused for honeymooners, as we have a glow about us that radiates love. It is so exciting to be in love, first with God and then with the spouse God has provided for me! We love it!!
We now have an obedient teenage child who loves to serve others instead of trying to get whatever he can out of his parents. Our son is 15 years old and loves to spend time with his parents. He comes to us with issues he is facing, asking for guidance, wanting our advice. This is not because Chris and I are anything, but because our son knows we will point him back to God, and if we do not know the answer or cannot get a lead we will go to our godly authorities for guidance. God has gifted him with musical talents as well as academic abilities. We know this is not from him, nor us...it is straight from God and only God.
We also praise God our finances are now in order. Before this truth we spent outside our means, had credit card debt we could not pay, and had no idea how to get it under control. We owe this financial blessing all to God for allowing us to hear this message from his servant Gwen Shamblin, who walked out on faith and obedience and began teaching those who would listen to the truth right out of the Bible. All the Weigh Down teachings come straight out of the word of God.
